Attendance/Tardy Policy:
• It is important for you to be in class everyday and
on time with your materials
• You are considered tardy if you are not in your
seat by the time the tardy bell rings. IF YOU ARE TARDY BY MORE THAN 10
MINUTES, YOU MUST GO AND GET AN ADMIT SLIP. THIS WILL MAKE YOU EVEN
LATER TO CLASS, MISSSING MORE CLASS TIME AND INFORMATION. BE ON TIME.
• Participation points are given daily. Students earn
these points by...
o Being
engaged in class
o Being
cooperative with peers and teacher
o
Doing their best
o
Being punctual
o
Turning in assignments on time
• If
you have an excused absence it is your responsibility to get in touch
with the teacher to make up what you missed within one week of your
absence, however, some work cannot be made up.
• See your student handbook for more information on
the attendance policy.
Hall Passes
* You will be given a hall pass and have three opportunities to go out
during class per quarter. If you don't use those opportunities, you may
cash the pass in at the end of the quarter for bonus points.
• Hall Passes are issued at the teacher's discretion
(Official Franklin Hall Pass only)
• Issued only after the first 15 minutes of class/not
issued the last 15 minutes
Grading
All students will be on a web-based grading program for all academy
teachers. More information to follow.
80% classwork/homework(completed assignments and
quality work)
20% participation(classroom participation and being
prepared for class)
Late work policy
It is important that you are in class and keeping up with the work. If
you have had an excused absence that has been cleared with the
attendance office, you need to come and see me at lunch or after school
to get the work you missed. You may also want to email me. You have one
week from the date you were absent to contact me.
In general, there will be a due date for all assignments. If you miss
the due date, you may turn it in late for a penalty on your
participation grade for up to one week from the due date. I will take
some assignments after this period, but you must come in and talk to me
and make arrangements. This is not for all assignments. Assignments
that require class participation and time sensitive assignments (novel
questions, for example) cannot be made up.
VERY IMPORTANT!
YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO MEET CERTAIN EXIT CRITERIA BY THE END OF
EACH SEMESTER BEYOND YOUR PASSING GRADE.
*FIRST SEMESTER-NARRATIVE WRITING SAMPLE PASSING IN THE CATEGORIES OF
IDEAS, ORGANIZATION, AND SENTENCE FLUENCY
*SECOND SEMESTER-A SCORE OF C OR BETTER ON THE WRITING PORTFOLIO
PROJECT AT THE END OF THE YEAR.
