• Participation points are given daily. If you have
an unexcused absence or tardy(no excuses for tardies), you will lose
some or all of these points.
• If you have an excused absence it is your
responsibility to get in touch with the teacher to make up what you
missed within one week of your absence, however, some work cannot be
made up.

80% classwork/homework(completed assignments and
quality work)

attendance/tardies)
Late work policy
It is important that you are in class and keeping up with the work. If
you have had an excused absence (with a note), you need to come and see
me at lunch or after school to get the work you missed. You may also
want to email me. You have one week from the date you were absent to
contact me.
In general, there will be a due date for all assignments. If you miss
the due date, you may turn it in late for a 15% penalty for up to one
week from the due date. I will take some assignments after this period,
but you must come in and talk to me and make arrangements. This is not
for all assignments. Assignments that require class participation and
time sensitive assignments (novel questions, for example) cannot be
made up.
VERY IMPORTANT!
YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO MEET
CERTAIN EXIT CRITERIA BY THE END OF EACH SEMESTER BEYOND YOUR PASSING
GRADE. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT THESE ARE AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH
SEMESTER. THE WRITING PORTFOLIO PROJECT, SECOND SEMESTER, IS PART OF
THIS REQUIREMENT. IF YOU DO NOT TURN ONE IN AND MAKE A 'C' OR BETTER,
YOU WILL NOT PASS FRESHMAN ENGLISH.
